Meet Your Neighbor Susan
and
See Her Spring Show
With Spring here we thought you might want to meet one of our residents who not only loves the beauty in the world around her, but captures its memorable images through the lens of her constant companion camera. She is Susan Himmelfarb, who with her late husband Dr. Bob Himmelfarb, have resided in Building 2 ever since they moved to The Gatherings from Florida more than three years ago. Susan took the signature photo at the top of this page and has more than 27,000 other wonderful photos tucked away in her office computer. Susan's original photographs and note cards were displayed and sold in Manassas, Virginia. The Beazer Corporation commissioned her to take photos to be part of the décor for the model apartments and she has sold many other photos and cards to people who have also seen her work.
To honor the arrival of Spring, Susan has put together a special exhibition for us featuring the spectacular colors of the new season. We will show you how to access her visual treat at the end of her short bio.

Award-winning photographer, Susan Himmelfarb, has focused her love of family and nature in a collection of photographs that capture the innocence and enthusiasm of children, the love revealed in parents' eyes, and the wonders of landscapes that surround us.
Her photographs of children are featured in a book,"Random Acts of Kindness," published by Palm Beach County Schools in Florida. Susan's career was chronicled in several newspapers in Florida where her works were showcased in many art exhibits, and where she was awarded first place "Best in Photography" in the Women in the Visual Ars juried Fine Arts Show.
Some of her most spectacular scenes were taken on the beaches of the Northeast. Photographs from her collection, "Reflections at a Fairfield Beach" were on exhibit in Fairfield, Connecticut and reproduced in Connecticut newspapers.
Susan loves and respects the natural world. Her imaginative approach is recognized by her mastery of composition, attention to detail, and unique perspective. Her dynamic use of color creates powerful visual images.
Through her work as an educator and coordinator of the Gifted and Talented Program for a Long Island, New York school district, Susan became a much sought after photographer of family-centered events. Her unique approach captures a lasting and tangible memory of joyous occasions and special moments.
A fascination with the visual arts led her to create one-of-a-kind note cards that are, themselves, suitable for framing.
An educator, photographer, mother and grandmother, Susan is inspired to capture the world around us through the special lens of a true artist.
Now, for that photo exhibition we promised you. First, make certain that you have your computer's sound turned on. Then sit back and enjoy the shows that both mother nature and Susan have provided.
