Elevators and Doors
ELEVATORS: If power is lost the elevator will halt and its doors will remain closed. Press the “Help” button on the upper right side of the panel and ask for help. A backup battery will keep the phone in operation for about 8 minutes. Wait for the Fire Department to arrive with the tools to open the doors to get you out safely. It's a good idea to locate the "Help" button when the electricity is on so you'll be able to find it in the dark.
ENTRANCE: The main entrance doors should work manually. If necessary, use the heavy metal doors on the side of the building’s main entrance and the door by the trash room. Each unit owner should have a single key that works all these doors however, the keys only work in the owner's building but not in any other building.
GARAGE DOORS: During a power failure the garage doors will not open electronically. You will have to raise or lower the door manually from inside the garage after disconnecting the opener by pulling on the disconnect handle that hangs from the door to lifter attachment.
