Welcome to Our Community
Situated in the Wellington section of the centrally located historic city of Manassas in Northern Virginia is a group of five recently constructed buildings known as The Gatherings at Wellington. These four-story condominiums, along with our town house neighbors, are built on what once was a farm. Today these buildings circle two park-like areas one with a running fountain and the other with a lovely gazebo. It is truly a community within a community.
The buildings which make up The Gatherings consist of a total of 135 condo units which house residents from all over the United States - the majority of whom are over 55. It's a mix of working people and active retirees of all colors and creeds. Many were in the military. Others were professionals such as teachers or doctors. or computer experts. We even have a former police chief.
They all have settled here to enjoy the pleasures of their modern, elevator-serviced apartments and the convenience of their own garages. Another plus is that its only a short walk to a nearby supermarket or the Community Clubhouse where residents can host parties or use the exercise room. Also nearby is everything from excellent health care to a continuous stream of top-rated entertainment and fine restaurants. The area is a great place to entertain grand children and to be among people who "have seen a thing or two" as the TV commercial says. When the wind blows strong enough and from the proper direction some claim they can sometimes hear the debates from the Capitol Building which is about 25 miles away. If they wish they can hop on a nearby Virginia Railway Express train and be "under the dome" in Washington, DC in less than an hour.

Twenty-five miles in the other direction is the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the sweeping majesty of the Shenandoah Valley.
If you are ever in this area and would like to see The Gatherings here's a few maps that might be of use.
We have included an aerial view of our community in case you are planning to fly in. The Gatherings is only a few miles from the Manassas Regional Airport. If you plan to visit you might want to come in June when the airport has its spectacular annual air show.
By the way, if you wondered why the residents of The Gatherings have a special button to click at the top of the page it is because they have their own private password protected website. When they visit it they can inform themselves of everything of importance going on in their community. The site offers movie, theater, train and bus schedules. It also features the minutes of the Home Owners Association as well as the work of the Social Committee which has something going on in the Community Clubhouse almost every day of the week.
The pages of the website also feature a "Tips" section that passes along suggestions for safety, better living and condo maintenance.
Some of the residents have taken exotic vacations and have shared their photos on the site. The trips they have taken include South Africa, Alaska, Seattle, Machu Piccu in Peru and the Galapagos Islands where Charles Darwin did some theorizing. The site has more than 30 different sections that provide information of use to its viewers.

This page doesn't tell all of the great stories we have about our community but we thought you might want to know a little bit more about us if you pass by our buildings or come to visit some day. This is who we are and the great community in which we live..
